The role will involve providing robust technical and regulatory advice to our clients to help them develop effective mitigation measures to avoid and minimise impacts. It will also involve supporting project teams to scope work, plan surveys, gather site information and prepare quality reports to advise clients and satisfy regulatory authorities.
The role of Senior Zoologist and Project Manager will involve:
• Planning and implementing ecological assessments – with a particular focus on zoological surveys
• Understanding environmental legislation and policy applicable in Victoria;
• Providing advice to clients
• Leading project teams of committed ecologists
• Providing leadership to graduate zoologists in undertaking zoological surveys and associated reporting
• Building and maintaining client relationships
• Contributing to achieving nature positive outcomes
• Sharing your passion and knowledge of nature with a diverse team; and
• Contributing to our strategic direction, management, and culture.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the design and implementation of ecological field assessments and the preparation and quality control of consulting reports. Qualifications and experience in ecology/environmental science is essential, and knowledge of the requirements of ecological impact assessments at different levels of government in Victoria is very advantageous. A track record in an environmental consulting capacity will be viewed favourably.
In addition, the successful candidate is expected to have:
• Tertiary qualifications in ecology
• Ecological field experience
• Strong ecological data handling and interpretation skills
• Experience in assessing the impact of developments on threatened species
• High quality reporting and reviewing skills
• The capacity to work well within a team as a leader and mentor.
