Ecologist & Project Manager

Ecologist & Project Manager

Cara started working at Nature Advisory in early 2019. She began as technical officer, providing support to the team and, with a background in zoology, she was regularly involved in targeted surveys for Striped Legless Lizard, Southern Brown Bandicoot, threatened owls, Golden Sun Moth, Southern Greater Glider, Growling Grass Frog and many more.

She was regularly responsible for writing and editing reports, data entry, database searches and a range of communication activities.

At the start of 2021, Cara transitioned into the role of Ecologist and Project Manager. Since beginning this role, she has assisted clients on numerous development projects. She specialises in projects within Melbourne’s urban growth corridors and recently has taken on a couple of wind farms projects.

Cara received her bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Throughout her degree, she was frequently in the field learning about research methods and ecological physiology. After finishing her undergraduate degree, she continued her studies at the University of Wollongong, where she obtained her master’s degree in Environmental Biology.

Cara conducted research on the activity patterns of small Australian mammals, which resulted in publication. Through her education, she gained valuable field and data analysis skills, as well as communication and interpersonal skills.
