Wind farm operational phase bird and bat management

Nature Advisory has extensive experience implementing operational bird and bat management plans at wind farms throughout Australia.

We have teams of trained specialists in NSW, Queensland and Victoria to support the implementation of Bird and Bat Management Plans. We have a team of trained and accredited scent dog handlers to maximise the effectiveness of carcass searches.

Critical to operational monitoring is responding quickly and effectively should a threatened species be impacted on by the operation of a wind farm. Our experienced team can quickly assess the bird and bat issues, understand the risk and develop appropriate mitigation measures to minimise impacts to both the species and the operation of the wind energy facility.

Competent operational ecological management requires the support of highly skilled and responsive teams. Nature Advisory provides those skills and experience in NSW, Victoria and Queensland, and can mobilise to other parts of regional Australia, if required.

Nature Advisory recently welcomed a new team members to our team, Kitty, a Springer Spaniel specially trained to assist our zoologists with carcass searches. Kitty has a keen sense of smell, loves to work and can detect targets from great distances. Kitty and her handlers have been certified in the Canine Detection Certification of Australia. Nature Advisory is using our highly trained sniffer dog, Kitty, in the field to deliver the monitoring program of these BBAMPs efficiently.
