Nature Advisory has undertaken a review of its operations and estimated its carbon footprint. This includes flights, motor vehicle kilometres and office power usage. To ensure that we offset our impact on the atmosphere, we have surrendered 53 tonnes of carbon emissions by purchasing Biodiverse Reforestation Carbon Offsets from the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor through Carbon Neutral. Our contribution is part of the larger Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor, a reforestation project that covers over 10,000 hectares of indigenous eucalypt woodland that has removed 1.257 million tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere.
At Nature Advisory, our office is deliberately close to railway stations so staff can use public transport to commute and we also attend city meetings by public transport, where possible. In addition, we have a disciplined recycling program for our office kitchen waste and compost organic waste. We also use office paper that has a high recycled content and comes from accredited plantation timber.
Our commitment to environmentally sustainable workplace practices compliments our work helping clients to reduce their impacts on Australia’s increasingly sensitive biodiversity through informed design and execution of development projects that meet community expectations and regulatory requirements.
