At Nature Advisory we are committed to minimising our impact on the environment. We aim to be carbon neutral, ensure we purchase from sustainable sources and implement behaviours to minimise our operational footprint

 

How we are creating a sustainable future

Offsetting

Starting in 2019, we have been calculating our company emissions based on electricity, water usage, kilometres driven, flights taken, and more. For 2021/2022 FY, we have partnered with Greenfleet to offset our carbon emissions through their native reforestation program. Greenfleet is a leading not-for-profit environmental organisation committed to protecting our climate by restoring our forests. Greenfleet plants native biodiverse forests to capture carbon emissions and help fight the impacts of climate change. As they grow, Greenfleet forests absorb carbon emissions, improve soil and water quality, and restore habitat for native wildlife, including many endangered species. Greenfleet forests are also legally protected for up to 100 years, ensuring they can grow for future generations.

 

 

Travel

  • We have calculated our emissions for company-used cars
  • We are tracking commuting emissions for our team members and employee vehicles
  • We have a bike rack in the office and always encourage team members to bike to work or take public transport – as many already do.
  • We make use of videoconferencing and webinar services to cut down on the number of air miles our team members travel each year.

 

Paper use, waste and recycling

  • Nature Advisory has been providing electronic reports for many years. We continue to remove as much paper from our business as possible to conserve trees. When the use of paper is necessary, we always use recycled and domestically sourced paper.
  • Our team actively collects all compostable materials including coffee grounds and food scraps. Compost is taken home daily for composting in passionate staff members gardens.
  • In addition to paper, we recycle all materials possible in the office and in the field.
  • We recently added designated bins for soft plastic and e-waste

 

Energy Conservation

  • We have changed our energy supplier to Powershop to support renewable energy generation.
  • Our team ensure all lights and electrical equipment on our business premises are turned off when not in use.
  • All light bulbs installed in our offices are LED energy-saving.
