Due to a rapidly expanding portfolio of projects, Brett Lane and his team has employed five new staff since late 2018. This reflects our determination to meet the needs of clients in a more timely manner and as effectively as possible. Nature Advisory employs not just for high level qualifications and expertise. We employ people who are great communicators, who have  a strong commitment to delivery, and who work as a team. We are pleased to introduce you to five new staff members, all of them have strong academic qualifications and high level expertise. Above all they are approachable, reliable and professional.

Jim Grant

Jim started his career at Melbourne Zoo where he worked from 1979 to 1989 in varying roles including zookeeper, education staff, then Coordinator of Post Primary Education. Jim worked at Earth Sanctuaries as Manager of the Yookamurra Sanctuary in South Australia, then as Publications Manager and then CEO, for the Gould League, Victoria from 1993 to 2003.

From 2004 to 2012 he worked for Northern Territory Government as Executive Director, for Wildlife Parks, then also Museums and Art Galleries, Alice Springs and Darwin. He was then appointed CEO of Northern Territory Government Department of Natural Resources, Environment, the Arts and Sport. Jim was CEO at Winton Wetlands Conservation and Tourism Project, Victoria (2013-2018).

Cara Cappelletti

Cara received her bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado-Boulder, USA. Throughout her degree, she was frequently in the field learning about research methods and ecological physiology. During that time, she traveled to Tanzania to study wildlife conservation and political ecology.

Cara moved to Australia for her master’s degree in Environmental Biology at University of Wollongong where she conducted research on the activity patterns small Australian mammals, which resulted in a publication. Cara has valuable field and data analysis skills and an advanced knowledge of Australian biodiversity. Since starting at Nature advisory, Cara has been quick to learn about many aspects of environmental consulting. She is eager to apply her extensive education, experience and specialised skills set to her role.

Guille Mayor

Guille has spent 10 years working as a zoologist on bird monitoring and conservation projects. He has a degree in Biology (2009-2014) from the University of Alicante, Spain, and a Masters of Science in Endangered Species Recovery (2016-2017) from Nottingham Trent University, UK.

From 2009 to 2012 he worked as an ornithologist and undertook steppe bird surveys for Birdlife Spain. From 2011 to 2014 he worked as a zoologist for the Ramon Margalef Institute, University of Alicante, Spain. During this time he also undertook other additional roles including bird banding of migratory passerines as part of the Piccole Isole project for the Nova Tabarca Island/University of Alicante. He also assisted with bird and chimpanzee surveys at the Jane Goodall Institute in Senegal. In 2014 to 2016 he worked as a bird keeper and birdwatching tour leader in Spain and Georgia, before moving into the role of National Coordinator for Georgia, European Breeding Bird Atlas II from 2014 to 2018, and Co-ordinator of the Imperial Eagle Recovery Program for SABUKO (Birdlife Georgia) from 2014 to 2016. From 2017 to 2018 Guille worked as a research assistant in Superb Fairy-wren behavioural ecology at the University of Melbourne

Annette Cavanagh

Annette is responsible for conducting native vegetation surveys and habitat hectare assessments in Victoria. Annette also regularly carries out data analysis and report writing. She has a Bachelor of Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Wildlife and Conservation Biology. Annette received her Honours degree in Botany in 2018.

Since working at Nature Advisory, Annette has conducted native vegetation assessments, has become Habitat Hectare accredited and has prepared detailed botanical reports for clients. Annette enjoys the varied work that she is involved in at Nature Advisory and loves the passion for nature that is shown by the team. She is excited to continue to build her botanical skills and looks forward to putting these into practice across Victoria.

Chris Armstrong

Chris Armstrong has over 4 years of experience in environmental management, specialising in habitat restoration, wetland ecology and weed control. He has practical knowledge of vegetation management.

Chris’ strong interest in environmental protection grew from his undergraduate studies of Environmental Science commencing in 2012. While studying Chris worked at an environmental services company, and continued in various roles until 2017. Furthering his studies, Chris completed his Honours in wetland restoration at Deakin University in 2018. His thesis was effectively a vegetation management plan for Winton Wetlands, to help make more focussed and effective management decisions for the future enhancement of the Wetlands.
