Brett has extensive working experience as an environmental consultant in Victoria, with expert knowledge and experience in natural ecosystems and the flora and fauna of south-eastern Australia. He joined Nature Advisory (then Brett Lane & Associates) in 2007 as a Botanist and progressed to Senior Ecologist and Project Manager in 2014.
Brett has expertise in the identification and management of Victoria’s rare and threatened flora and fauna and ecological communities. As a project manager, Brett has attained a strong understanding of the Victorian and Commonwealth biodiversity regulatory frameworks and has managed a diverse array of projects, from small-scale & mum and dad subdivisions to large-scale native vegetation impact assessments and bird and bat monitoring programs for wind farms.
He has leading experience in resolving flora and fauna issues throughout all stages of development, guiding his clients through the often complex Commonwealth EPBC Act approval process and assisting his clients in meeting their obligations with developments subject to the EPBC Act Biodiversity Conservation Strategy in Melbourne and growth areas. Brett is also the leading consultant with Nature Advisory in the preparation of first and third party offset management plans and associated security agreements, as well as offset site monitoring.
A passionate naturalist and bird observer, Brett spends much of his time away from work immersed in Australia and remarkable national parks and wilderness areas. He also enjoys aeromodelling, cycling and an occasional game of tennis.
