Senior Ecologist and Project Manager

Leah is a conservation biologist with over 20 years’ experience in threatened species conservation in Australia, with particular interests in threatened mammal species, reintroduction biology, and behavioural ecology. Leah has been with Nature Advisory since July 2022 as a Senior Ecologist and Project Manager.

 

Leah has extensive experience in all aspects of planning and implementing threatened species reintroduction programmes across multiple jurisdictions that include most states and territories of Australia. These programmes have ranged from large, multi-species reintroduction programmes to emergency translocations of threatened populations.  Leah is a member of international IUCN Conservation Translocation Specialist Group and has been a member of numerous national recovery teams for threatened species, including chairing the National Mala Recovery Team. Leah also has experience working at Federal level writing conservation advice and recovery plans for threatened species.

 

Leah has also spent five years living and working remotely managing conservation and science programmes which encompassed biodiversity surveys to assess ecological health and targeted surveys to monitor population health. Leah has experience in coordinating conservation workshops and small conferences. Leah has a strong ability to drive projects forward, viewing both the big picture and logistical details. Leah has experience in coordinating teams and bringing together experts from a range of fields to achieve conservation outcomes.
