Nature Advisory Pty Ltd is an Australian, employee-owned consulting company providing trusted, expert ecological advice to public and private clients across a range of ecosystems. We are highly regarded in the assessment of proposed developments and frequently act as an expert witness assisting VCAT, planning panels and the courts. We seek to ensure impacts from these projects are avoided or minimised.
We are headquartered in Hawthorn East, Melbourne, and have staff operating from locations across Victoria, ACT, NSW, Queensland and Tasmania. We work on projects throughout Australia. We offer attractive and highly flexible work arrangements. Our own operations are carbon neutral.
Our growing team of almost 100 professionals has an exciting vacancy for a Senior Ecologist. The successful candidate will have experience undertaking ecological field investigations and/or planning for nature positive outcomes, proven project management abilities, experience in environmental monitoring and/or impact assessment and skills in, or transferrable to, consulting. The position involves:
- Planning and implementing ecological assessments;
- Understanding environmental legislation and policy applicable in Victoria;
- Providing advice to clients;
- Guiding a team of committed ecologists;
- Building and maintaining all aspects of client relationships;
- Contributing to achieving nature positive outcomes;
- Sharing your passion and knowledge of nature with a diverse team; and
- Contributing to our strategic direction, management, and culture.
The position provides an excellent opportunity for a professional ecologist or environmental planner with relevant experience who has an energetic and service-focussed approach to project delivery. You will be joining an experienced and supportive team committed to a high standard of technical work and client service. You will also be contributing to the management and growth of an almost 25-year-old business.
Candidates must have graduate or post-graduate qualifications in ecology, environmental planning or a related field. A sound knowledge of biodiversity in Victoria, biodiversity related legislation and policies and well-developed communication skills are essential. A track record in managing ecological or planning projects would be useful. A current driver’s license is required.
